Blessed Hope Foundation grew out of the collaborative work of a number of individuals and churches from around the United States who were convicted to support efforts to provide opportunities to orphans and handicapped children. Many of these people were inspired by the ministry of Pastor Joel Bukenya, who had visited their local areas to solicit support for a new orphanage in Uganda. As support for construction of an orphanage grew, it became apparent that regular support would be needed for the ongoing expenses of operating an orphanage. A child sponsorship program was started with people from many parts of the United States participating. |

Tax Exempt Status In December 2008, Blessed Hope Foundation was formed for the purpose of “providing a networking, coordination, and management structure for promoting educational, social, economic, health and career development opportunities for orphaned children and disadvantaged and/or handicapped individuals around the world”. This new organization sought tax exempt status with the IRS under provisions of Section 501c3 of the Internal Revenue Code of the United States of America. Approval of the application for tax exempt status was received in November 2009.
