Blessed Hope Champions Orphanage and Academy

Updates

May 2008— Pastor Joel has been visiting churches in the US to raise awareness of this outreach. He has been able to visit several churches in the US. He reports that all the children are doing well; they are healthy, happy, and doing well in their schoolwork. He tells us that the children love living at the orphanage. There are now 180 children at the Academy.

             Pastor Jim Borchert from Emmanuel Church in Fort Worth, Texas has just returned from a visit to Uganda. Three other people from the area went with him.  This was Pastor Borchert’s second trip to Uganda.

             Pastor Joel reports that an additional ten children from the war-torn northern area of Uganda have recently joined his orphanage. Two new teachers have also been hired as the school continues to grow.

December 2007—This year we have been able to help the orphanage begin construction on a vocational building, where they will begin classes this Spring. We now have about 60 children sponsored. This year, we have also been able to purchase an additional 20 beds for the orphans. We have been able to help provide food and medical needs for the children.

             A loan for a dump truck was obtained for them. The dump truck will be used as an income-producing business. It will also be hired out as a moving van and used to transport livestock and building supplies.

             Several cows, goats, and chickens have been purchased for the orphanage.

             An additional three acres of land adjacent to the orphanage was purchased. This land will be the future site of a junior high / high school.
